Behind the Times

Life moves a little bit slower when you're unemployed. Perhaps that is why I find myself now posting a blog with a complimentary photo of myself and the merry band I traipsed around Lower Manhattan with on New Year's Eve. I'm aware it's January 14th, perhaps two weeks slower.

However, unemployment assuming that you are looking for employment seems to be it's very own kind of profession. No longer do I sit in this chair in front of my PC with no aim or desires, I find myself refreshing Craig's List and updating my resume. Now it isn't peculiar to troll forums and look for posts of personal interest, but it does seem odd trolling in search of work. Maybe this is how the best or most ideal jobs are found. Maybe that's how the lifers at every EBGames in suburbia got their posts.

I can see it now, on some mild mid-May evening... the men pulling up in their early 90's Accord sedans and parking in a circle on top of the parking garage. It's late and the mall's closed for the evening. The guys pull out their GBAs and hook up for some good ole' fashioned Low-Fi MultiPlay. They realize it isn't the future yet and their GBAs are not back lit nor labeled SP so they turn the headlights on one of the Sedans and play deep into the night. When they fall asleep they dream of 25% discounts and chances to reserve things before poor honest consumers. And when the trolls wake, they interview with their exquisite knowledge of software and the industry.

The trolls have come a long way since camping in mall parking lots. I camp in my bedroom, which is unfortunately too small for an Accord sedan let alone my own Accord Wagon. But fortunately it is the future and I come packing a back lit DS, waiting and ready to pounce when that job shows itself. Not only am I looking for it, but it's looking for me.
